Editorial: Pot and Guns  - Kush the movie - Publication: Public Magazine Back to Editorials

Pot and middle class white boys is the focus of the latest indy pic epic Kush by prodigal LA film house Auteur Entertainment.

The controversial feature  profiles rich kid pot dealers, offering ahomegrown tale about a pot dealer who wants out, set among affluent teenagers trafficking marijuana in Calabasas.

The project is the brain child of York Shackleton and Christopher Wayne, friends and cofounders of Auteur Entertainment Group, as well as former Calabasas High School students.

Commenting on Kush to Public, Chris Wayne reveals , “ Popular media lends a sympathetic tone to most non-violent drug stories, unless its Rush Limbaugh or someone else who had it coming.
Stories of soldiers finding sheds full of cash in Baghdad have the same slant as when they find a drug tunnel in Tijuana.

We give billions away to other countries in the drug trade every year, but building a fence through the desert gets more headlines and face time in Congress.  There should definitely be more exposes on crack, like the ones in the late 80's that made your skin crawl.

I see a general distaste for hard drugs, but no end to the crisis under the current system.  Where to start with all of that is anybody's guess.  As far as cannabis, there is so much to be gained economically and physically by legalizing certain aspects.

How many people burden the healthcare system with painkiller addiction costs?  These same people could be treating themselves cost free from their own backyards.  It's kind of sad really.  On the other hand, kids shouldn't be able to get a pack of doobies at the liqour store.  The jails would be full of grand theft twinkie busts.

Look out for Kush at Tribeca film fest and Sundance - its sure to cause a stir
